What Is a Mandala, Anyway?
Want to create your personal mandala? What is a mandala you may be asking? As a very basic definition, a mandala is a circle, often described as a spiritual reflection of our inner self. Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means center, circumference, or magic circle. Often associated with Buddhism and Hinduism as a ritual and spiritual symbol for the universe. We will tune in to our individual spiritual center and create a mandala reflecting that essence. The practice is meditative, calming and encourages our creative expression.
In this Creativity Play Shop, you will discover how to express your sense of color, design, and form. Expressing your inner world, your inner being – capturing it externally within the mandala you create! Your soul’s mirror come to life.

Creating Mandalas
Utilizing the book “Creating Mandalas” by Suzanne F. Fincher, we will create personal mandalas using geometric forms, diagrams, designs and color. The book will guide us through the history of the mandala, how to create and interpret the mandala and detailed explanations of colors, numbers and forms.
How authentic might it be to create “a microcosm of your inner world” for use in your meditation, for self-centering, or during yoga practice?
You will find your inner voice, gain feedback and insight from others, and be cheered on to “courageously express” your personal work of art.
Suzanne F. Fincher, a Jungian-oriented psychotherapist, and board certified art therapist, and internationally known expert for using mandala-making for self-exploration. She has been teaching and writing about mandalas for many years.
